A new partnership between Nashville’s private equity community and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is helping more local people build stronger futures through affordable homeownership.

On Oct. 2, Habitat will welcome 75 volunteers from across the private equity industry for the inaugural Private Equity Build, a philanthropic initiative that raised $125,000 to support affordable homeownership opportunities in Nashville.

The effort was spearheaded by BluWave in collaboration with five private equity firms: Capital Alignment Partners, CapitalSpring, Council Capital, Frist Cressey Ventures and Shore Capital Partners. Several industry service providers also joined the initiative, including Bass, Berry & Sims, DLA Piper, HUB International and Plante Moran.

Together, participants are investing both financially and personally in Habitat’s mission to create affordable homeownership opportunities for local families and individuals.

During the half-day build event, volunteers will assemble wall panels that will become part of future Habitat homes in Bella Terra, Habitat’s 53-home community currently under development in South Nashville. The work completed during the event will help accelerate construction and bring future homeowners one step closer to achieving the dream of homeownership.

“The Private Equity Build demonstrates what is possible when an industry comes together around a shared purpose,” said Lauren Payne, chief philanthropy officer for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. “The generosity of these firms and their partners extends far beyond financial support. By investing their time, resources and talents, they are helping create opportunities for local people to achieve the stability of homeownership. We are incredibly grateful for their leadership and commitment to building stronger communities in Nashville.”

Habitat homebuyers purchase their homes through an affordable mortgage program after completing financial education classes, volunteer service and partnership hours alongside Habitat volunteers and sponsors. The Bella Terra community will ultimately create homeownership opportunities for 53 households seeking an affordable path to homeownership in one of the nation’s most competitive housing markets.

The inaugural Private Equity Build highlights the powerful impact that can occur when business leaders join together in support of their community. Through their generosity, these firms and industry partners are helping Habitat build more than homes. They’re helping build stability, opportunity and stronger neighborhoods across Nashville.
