Local Builds, Global Impact: How Habitat Nashville Extends Hope Around the World

When Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville builds homes across Middle Tennessee, the impact reaches far beyond our local communities. Through Habitat International’s global tithe model, local affiliates help support housing programs around the world—ensuring that families everywhere have access to safe, stable places to call home.

Each year, a portion of our undesignated funding is shared with Habitat for Humanity International to support housing initiatives in communities facing urgent need globally. This model allows local generosity to create meaningful change well beyond our five‑county service area.

Since 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville has contributed more than $1.9 million through this tithe, helping support housing solutions for more than 515 families worldwide. These contributions represent decades of partnership and a shared commitment to housing as a foundation for stability and opportunity.

That global reach continues today. In 2025 alone, our affiliate’s tithe helped support housing solutions for an estimated 23 families internationally, demonstrating how local support creates lasting global impact.

This international impact exists alongside our work here at home. While volunteers and future homeowners partner to build and strengthen communities across Middle Tennessee, those same efforts help extend Habitat’s mission across borders. Together, we are building homes, communities and hope—both locally and around the world.
